MyTEAM is a single and multiplayer team building mode in the NBA 2K series, introduced in NBA 2K13. It is similar to Ultimate Team in EA Sports titles, allowing users to earn and purchase player cards to assemble teams that they can play with online. It has become one of the most popular modes in the NBA 2K series. Since NBA 2K's launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, MyTEAM has continued to expand with new features including additional gem levels for cards, an Auction House, and Dynamic Ratings cards. As of NBA 2K17, the mode features Free Agent cards, which are similar to the short term player cards in Ultimate Team. Dynamic Duos have also been introduced, with users gaining a boost when they pair up the cards of players who are current teammates, high school or college teammates, or share some other kind of connection. Introduced in NBA 2K16, MyTEAM also features the ability to create custom branding for your team, in addition to using the jerseys, courts, and logos of current and historical teams, as well as Euroleague teams. Quick Challenges, introduced in NBA 2K17, provide short gameplay scenarios based on real NBA games. Card packs in MyTEAM can be purchased with Virtual Currency or MyTEAM Points (aka MT), the latter of which is exclusive to the mode. Players in the Auction House can only be purchased with MT.
